AIAS Grassroots Conference

Grassroots is a national event every July that brings together AIAS Chapters from all across the country to collaborate, learn, and inform the next year of AIAS!

Grassroots 2023 Recap

Leadership

  • Met the National AIAS Board

  • Participated in meetings with the Mental Health Taskforce, JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) Taskforce, and Freedom By Design

  • Listened in on keynote speakers to learn how to organize our chapter better

Learning

  • Attended sketching tours and architectural tours of D.C.

  • Seminars on everything from K-12 architectural education to addressing houselessness to personal branding!

Networking

  • Toured national firms like SmithGroup and Gensler

  • Met practicing architects and AIA leaders

  • Collaborated with other AIAS chapters from around the country

We’re hoping to bring 6 general members along with our executive board to Grassroots next year, with travel and hotel costs covered by AIAS. The conference takes place in Washington, D.C., Thursday-Saturday towards the end of July every year. We will keep you up to date with more information about Grassroots 2024 when they become available!
